Trip the Dark is a frisky, new performance company here in Portland. They bring dance to places you wouldn’t normally expect to see it — spots like warehouses, music venues, bars and even yoga studios.

Their newest production is called The Wolf-Child’s Mother. It’s a modern interpretation of the Little Red Riding Hood classic. Only this time, Red is pregnant with the wolf-child. The story combines tap, jazz and classic dance along with lots of good music and even some body painting to help tell the story.

OPB’s Arts & Life visited Trip the Dark this weekend as they prepared for opening night. Watch as make-up goes on, hair goes up, props are built, and the dancers get ready for the stage.

Go See It!
