Bluesman Curtis Salgado has been performing and touring since the late '60s, but he is probably best known outside of the music world as the inspiration for John Belushi's character in the 1977 film The Blues Brothers.
Salgado was in OPB's studios to play songs from his latest album, Soul Shot. He spoke with opbmusic's David Christensen about getting his start in the Eugene music scene, writing songs and his continuing battles with cancer. In this excerpt from the interview, Salgado tells the story of how he met Belushi during the filming of Animal House in Eugene and one of the unexpected consequences of the Blues Brothers phenomenon.
