There was a time when sensible chefs and nutritionists wrote cookbooks. Today, those authors have largely been replaced by food bloggers with fabulous hair, an eye for accessorizing and the ability to shoot a well-composed Instagram photo. Are these women brilliant entrepreneurs, “Stepford Wives,” or a bit of both?

Next, how does cilantro taste? Depends on whom you ask. Flavor is one of those subjective things that’s different for everyone and nearly impossible to describe. Bianca Bosker, who wrote an article for the New Yorker about how we describe flavor, guides us through a conversation on this ephemeral topic.

Finally, it’s the era of the online personal shopper. Busy people get their clothes from sites like Stitchfix, and their meals from services like Blue Apron. Now, online wine clubs have stepped up their game. Should you sign up for one?

Our panelists for Episode 17 are: Bianca Bosker, a certified sommelier, and author of the bestselling new book “Cork Dork”; Juno DeMelo, who covers food and health for publications like Marie Claire, Glamour, Bon Appétit and Vogue; and regular panelist Ivy Manning, author of five cookbooks. Our host is Katherine Cole.
