Lutenist Ronn McFarlane has been recording music for more than 20 years. During that time he has produced a collection of eight solo recordings, the most recent of which was nominated for a Grammy in 2007.
Though McFarlane has devoted much of his life and career to the sounds of the Renaissance, he credits "Wipe Out" by the Surfaris with sparking his interest in music.
Oregon Art Beat recently spent some time with McFarlane to learn about his commitment to keeping lute music alive. While our cameras rolled, McFarlane performed the song "Cathedral Cave" from his Grammy-nominated album, Indigo Road.
This video was shot by Greg Bond and Michael Bendixen.
