The Portland Gay Men’s Chorus is famous. They’ve traveled all over the world using music to communicate their message of diversity, understanding and tolerance.
“We’re about music that affirms people. That uplifts them. But the key component to our mission is performance,” says Artistic Director Bob Mensel.
Oregon Art Beat followed the Portland Gay Men’s Chorus out to Pendleton in April where they performed the “Greatest Hits” of gay choral music. The 90-minute show took the audience on an uplifting journey celebrating gay culture and honoring victims of the AIDS crisis, along with several songs that really can only be described as “show biz.”
To learn more about the Chorus and their visit to Pendleton, watch Oregon Art Beat on Thursday, May 31 at 8 pm on OPB TV.
