Portland chef Gabriel Rucker, of Le Pigeon, has just received the James Beard Rising Star Chef of the Year Award.
According to their website, the James Beard Awards recognize “the best and brightest talent in the food and beverage industry,” from chefs and restaurateurs to cookbook authors, food journalists and more.
Portland chef Andy Ricker of Pok Pok received the Best Local Chef in the Northwest Award, and Portland food writer Mark Bitterman was recognized in the Reference and Scholarship Category for Salted: A Manifesto on the World’s Most Essential Mineral.
