How Long Does It Take To Melt Portland's Favorite Ice Creams?

The National Weather Service issued an excessive heat warning for this week with temperatures climbing into the triple digits. But there are ways to stay cool despite these potentially record-setting conditions.

So we visited three of Portland's favorite ice cream shops to find out whose single scoop would last the longest on one of the hottest days of the year.

The Contenders

Ben & Jerry's: A small single scoop of bourbon brown butter ice cream topped with Chocolate Therapy on a classic sugar cone sounds like heaven but melts all the same.

Cloud City Ice Cream: Who doesn't love to watch a mascarpone ice cream with red velvet cake cookies and strawberry jam melt all over a 'unicone' cone?

Ruby Jewel: Finally, we have an ice cream blend of blueberries, strawberries and marionberries with chocolate flakes, fittingly named Oregon Berry Flake. Though its waffle cone is bigger than the other sugar cones, it doesn't keep the ice cream from dripping all over the place.
