English folk singer Laura Marling has just released her latest album, Once I Was an Eagle. It’s her fourth studio record (in just over 5 years’ time) — a collection of 16 songs written on tour last year.
After playing in Portland recently, Marling made a return visit to OPB for this audio session. She performs three of her new songs and talks about her recent move to Los Angeles, the new film featuring her songs, and writing music for a Royal Shakespeare Company production of As You Like It.
Marling’s sound has been described as “mesmerizingly beautiful” by the opbmusic staff who filmed her at OPB last year. During that solo performance (which you can watch above) Marling managed to bring the entire OPB television production studio to a standstill with her delicate voice and powerfully moving songwriting.
