Broadway Rose: My Fair Lady
Deb Fennell Auditorium
9000 SW Durham
August 1 - 18, 2013
The Broadway Rose Theatre Company presents the musical My Fair Lady at the Deb Fennell Auditorium in Tigard with performances in August.
My Fair Lady is a musical based on George Bernard shaw's play, Pygmalion. Books and lyrics by Alan Jay Lerner and music by Frederick Loewe. The musical tells the story of Professor Henry Higgins, a bachelor who makes a bet with his friend Colonel Pickering that he can pass off a simple Cockney flower girl as a refined society lady by teaching her how to speak with a desirable upper class accent and imparting proper etiquette.
The musical's 1956 Broadway production was a hit, setting what was then the record for the longest run of any major musical theater production in history. It was followed by a hit London production, a popular film version, and numerous revivals. My Fair Lady features the memorable songs “I Could Have Danced All Night,” “On the Street Where You Live,” “The Rain in Spain,” and “I’ve Grown Accustomed to Her Face.”
Preview performance is August 1 with opening night on Friday, August 2.
