Cannon Beach Gallery: August Print Invitational
Cannon Beach Gallery
1064 S. Hemlock
August 2 - September 3, 2013
The Cannon Beach Gallery announces its August Print Invitational, hosting six regional artists and an Artist Reception. The featured artists are Liza Jones, Paul Miller, and Susan C. Walsh of Manzanita, along with John Clark and Jamie Boyd of Astoria and Nicole Rawlins of Portland, Oregon. The artists in the August Print Invitational are all masters of their craft, working in a variety of print media in order to express their individual visions.
Liza Jones will be showing a group of 12 new etchings revolving around the theme of Hair, images which are at times comical and lighthearted, revealing the artists sense of whimsy. Portland artist, Nicole Rawlins, will be showing a group intaglio etchings which explore the symbol systems and mythologies of different cultures and how they create a new narrative when taken out of context and combined with the human form. Stirling Gorsuch, will be showing his monumental linoleum cut print, Full Circle- the Zodiac Series, on the Docent Wall during the month of August. The giant print was created by laying out 12 different linoleum blocks in an ambitious undertaking that resulted in a breathtaking interpretation of the zodiac.
The Cannon Beach Gallery is a program of the Cannon Beach Arts Association and showcases a new exhibit every month featuring local and regional artists. The Gallery is open seven days a week through September.
The Artist's Reception will occur on Saturday, August 3, 5-7 p.m.
