Hillsboro: Sculpture and Wax Paintings Exhibit
Walters Cultural Arts Center
527 East Main St
Runs through March 26, 2013
The Walter Cultural Arts Center presents Anne Mavor and her distinctive approach to encaustic painting, blending the transparency of watercolor and the luminosity and surface aliveness of wax. The paintings in this series touch upon themes related to home, connection, and place and were inspired by photographs her father took of ancient, Celtic monuments. Upstairs, starting March 5, 11 members of the Pacific Northwest Sculptors will show works ranging from cast bronze and carved stone to ceramic clay and found-object collages. Both shows run through March 26.
