Ken Kesey (1935–2001) wrote One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest (1962) and Sometimes a Great Notion(1964). Those books and other works have made him one of the best-known authors to ever emerge from Oregon. But Kesey would never sit still for any single label. This clean-cut kid from small-town Springfield would also go on to become one of America’s most visible icons of the psychedelic '60s.
