Steve Amen Presents: ‘In the 1980s Fruitcake Edition’
Sources say fruitcake originated in the Middle Ages, and some people might argue that there is still a loaf or two kicking around from that time period.
Back in the 1980s, before I found my true calling with Oregon Field Guide, I was an “investigative reporter” for OPB’s program Front Street Weekly. One of my assignments was to research the infamous fruitcake. I hope you enjoy it — the story, not the fruitcake.
Editor's Note: Pay attention at around minute 2:30 of the video. You'll see that in the 1980s, apparently safety goggles were required of anyone using a computer. For their protection, of course.
