Mirna Attar celebrates her win at the Iron Chef Portland 2013 competition with her husband and daughter. Originally from Lebanon, Attar is the chef-owner of Portland's Ya Hala restaurant. She pairs her Lebanese cooking with Pacific Northwest fare, creating a combination of complementary tastes and textures.
Attar made a thyme-braised lamb neck with fava bean and garbanzo basmati rice.
Attar’s second dish was an herb and bulgur paté in a fresh basil leaf. It was topped with a crunchy radish and sat on a homemade sesame pita circle.
Blake offered a lemongrass-cured salmon with an IPA mustard, cheese, pickled onions and dill. His second dish was a tart of onion and pear chutney, blue cheese, crisp pancetta and candied local hazelnuts.
