Oregon Field Guide, producer Vince Patton's discovery, Ecological Mysteries of Spirit Lake, 2007 Videographer Michael Bendixen convinced producer Vince Patton that they not only had to start hiking before dawn near Mount St. Helens to find elk, but they also had to cover themselves with elk urine to "blend in" in the hopes of getting close-up video. Vince says he never tires of going to Mount St. Helens and its stark volcanic landscape.
Oregon Field Guide, videographer Nick Fisher's discovery Videographer Nick Fisher has been lucky enough to go inside the crater of Mount St. Helens twice now. He says, "It's like being on another planet. Glacier ice, gasses rising all around, boiling water coming out of the ground, and rockslides falling off the inside of the crater. A little scary, but very cool."
