Teaching Objectives
The Cold War I video series and the Curriculum Guide provide opportunities
for students to:
1. Learn about
political geography, including some natural and cultural geographic
features of the United States, the Caribbean, and Eastern and Western
Europe.
2. Explore the
relationship between natural geography and political geography.
3. Develop planned
solutions to foreign policy issues, and test them against other
possible solutions by using well-reasoned arguments.
4. Explore the
interconnection among political, economic, and socio-cultural issues,
especially as it relates to a developing global community.
5. Relate Cold
War events and issues to aspects of their own experiences.
6. Explore the
points of view of various participants in the Cold War, comparing
and contrasting their experiences.
7. Interpret
contemporary issues and events in the former Soviet Union, Germany,
Cuba, and the United States through an exploration of their historical
origins.
