
"CITIZEN KURCHATOV: STALIN'S BOMB MAKER" examines the
personal story of Soviet citizen Igor Kurchatov, as well as his
role in the development of the atomic bomb in the Soviet Union after
World War II. This program looks at how the issues of patriotism
and national pride, as well as of totalitarianism and terror, became
increasingly prominent during the Soviet Union's transformation
to a Communist superpower. This program also addresses how Cold
War issues impacted and framed the moral questions raised during
the process of creating a weapon of mass destruction.
