Early Childhood: Who We Are

If you're a parent, caregiver or early childhood educator, you're probably a regular viewer of the OPB TV children's programming schedule.

But OPB's commitment to children in Oregon and Southwest Washington extends beyond our broadcasts.

Hooper and Miss Lori

Along with airing 9.5 hours of commercial-free, educational and entertaining children's programs every weekday, we're also in your communities, working along side you in your family literacy programs, childcare centers, libraries, schools and homes, helping to prepare children for success in school.

Since 1996, OPB's Early Childhood Education & Media Service (ECEM), formerly known as Ready To Learn, has received a variety of grants and special funding to offer hands-on workshops and public broadcasting resources that help parents, caregivers and early childhood educators address school readiness in children from low-income and low-literacy backgrounds.

Our resources include a daily line-up of high-quality children's programming each weekday, related web content, and other free program-related and literacy materials and books. Read about our results.

If your family literacy program, school or library would like to partner with OPB, contact Slavica Jovanovic Bubic, OPB ECEM Coordinator.
