Christine Barr
Christine
Barr has taught in Oregon public schools for 12 years. She currently
teaches Title 1 Reading to 4th-6th graders at Petersen Elementary
School in Scappoose. She is also a teacher for the Northwest Regional
Education Service District Web School Program.
Christine earned her bachelor's of science degree in elementary
education from Western Oregon State College and her master's degree
in curriculum and instruction from Portland State University.
Mary Groves
Mary
Groves, a Montana native, has taught in the public school system
for the last 12 years and in the state of Oregon for the past eight
years. Mary graduated with a degree in business education from University
of Montana - Northern in Havre, Montana; a master's in teaching
from Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, Arizona; and an endorsement
in media education from George Fox University in Newberg, Oregon.
Mary is a full-time business/technology teacher at Nestucca High
School and is the Nestucca School District librarian.
Karen Mapes
Karen
Mapes is a math and science teacher with experience at the intermediate
and middle school levels. During the last seven years, she has taught
sixth grade math at Fowler Middle School in Tigard, Oregon. Before
teaching, Karen worked at national laboratories as a science and
technical editor and did free-lance science writing. She received
a Volunteer of the Year Award for creative science teaching in the
Portland Public Schools and is co-author of a book about Portland
schools called The School Tool.
Karen earned a bachelor's degree in journalism from San Jose State
University and a master's degree from Lewis and Clark College.
Ken McCoy
Before
becoming a classroom teacher, Ken McCoy spent over 10 years as a
graphic designer and creative director for both print and the Web.
Now, as a teacher, Ken draws on that blend of technology and creativity
to help students learn in his classroom.
Ken earned his bachelor's of science in art from Portland State
University and his master's in elementary education from Concordia
University in Portland. He has taught at the elementary level, as
well as several online courses at the middle and high school levels.
Ken also presents inservice trainings in educational technology
and software use for teachers, staff and students.
