Member Center Representative
Position: OPB seeks an experienced customer service professional to join our Member Center team. This non-exempt position is a full-time, represented, regular status position and between $11.92 to 14.89 an hour (depending on qualifications) plus a benefits package.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities: This position serves as the primary customer service representative in OPB's Member Center.
  • Provide customer service to OPB viewers, listeners, online visitors and members via telephone, email and mail.
  • Answer questions about OPB programming, services, products and membership.
  • Enter customer interactions and contributions in databases for use in reporting.
  • Research answers when necessary.
  • Promote OPB through free program guide offers and encourage membership contributions.
Working Conditions: The Member Center Representative spends the majority of his/her time in the office during OPB's business hours (8-5, Monday through Friday) with extensive use of a computer and telephone. There may be some evening or weekend work to help with special events.
Required Qualifications:
  • Two years full-time experience providing customer service via phone, email and in person.
  • Exceptional customer service skills and ability to interface in a cordial, professional and well-informed manner with OPB donors, leaders, potential funders and staff.
  • Ability to work well with a diverse group of people.
  • Excellent research, organizational, verbal and written communications skills.
  • Well organized with meticulous attention to detail, motivated and efficient.
  • Fluent use of standard computer software tools in business applications (Microsoft Office) and effective database skills
  • Data entry skills.
  • Adaptable and flexible to demands of workflow and nature of projects.
  • Ability to establish priorities and work quickly to meet deadlines in a busy environment.
  • Experience working with the public.
  • Ability to appropriately handle confidential information.
  • Proactive, oriented to problem solving, teamwork and the constant pursuit of improvement.
  • Genuine enthusiasm for the services and mission of Oregon Public Broadcasting.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Desire to create efficiencies and improve systems.
  • Knowledge of public broadcasting a plus.

Traffic Assistant
Position:This non-exempt position is represented, part-time, regular status and receives $13.13 to $16.41 an hour (depending on qualifications) plus a benefits package.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities: The Traffic Assistant enters program data for broadcast into the programming database, creates record logs, maintains knowledge of the broadcast schedule, and prepares and distributes reports to OPB staff and reporting agencies.
Working Conditions: This position spends the majority of time in the office during OPB's business hours (8-5, Monday through Friday). Because this position is twenty hours a week, there is some flexibility with his/her schedule. This position involves extended periods of sitting with extensive use of a computer and telephone.
Required Qualifications:
  • Two years of experience in television traffic.
  • High school diploma (or equivalent).
  • Must thrive in a fast-paced working environment, take initiative and balance multiple priorities with speed and accuracy.
  • Flexibility, excellent customer service and communication (verbal and written) skills.
  • Ability to work independently and evaluate situations using sound judgment and critical thinking skills.
  • Well organized with meticulous attention to detail, motivated and efficient.
  • Fluent use of standard computer software tools in business applications (Microsoft Office) and effective database skills in or transferable to ProTrack (TV programming database).
  • Proactive, oriented to problem solving, teamwork, systematic thinking and constant pursuit of improvement.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Enthusiasm for the services and mission of Oregon Public Broadcasting.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Some college level coursework.
  • Experience with PBS programming operations procedures.
  • Working knowledge of ProTrack or other programming database software.
  • Experience in a multi-channel environment.
  • Experience as a master control operator.
