Coordinator, Rural Economy Radio
Position:Temporary (30hrs/week for about six months starting in mid to late January), non-exempt
Primary Duties and Responsibilities: This position will assist with production and research for Think Out Loud and radio news series related to rural unemployment and small businesses, develop and implement a promotion plan, coordinate communication between partners, create and maintain a database of project resources, lead the effort to work with partners to find bloggers and small business owners to create content for the project website, collect project evaluation data, and compile reports.
Working Conditions: Most of the Coordinator's work is done in an office, studio or other indoor location. While in the office or studio, there may be extended periods of sitting and standing, including use of a computer and other office or production equipment. There may be extended periods of in-state travel (3-5 days). Evening or weekend work may happen because of travel and deadlines.
Required Qualifications:
  • Two years experience in managing projects involving community-oriented organizations.
  • Familiarity with Oregon communities.
  • Ability to establish effective, collaborative relationships with OPB staff, project partners, and the public.
  • Experience in creating and/or managing the creation of promotional materials.
  • Experience in creative and promotional writing.
  • Ability to develop a promotional strategy.
  • Ability to develop promotional campaign budgets, track costs and stay on budget.
  • Experience with online editing and content creation.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Detailed-oriented focus.
  • Ability to balance and respond to multiple conflicting priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Valid driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in communication, business or related field.
  • Prior experience managing projects in public broadcasting environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with Basecamp software, general office-related software.
  • Experience working in rural Oregon communities.

Associate Producer for History Detectives
Position:Temporary (21 weeks beginning on January 4, 2010), non-exempt
Primary Duties and Responsibilities: The Associate Producer (AP) assists in the story development, production and post-production of three story segments for season seven of History Detectives.
Working Conditions: The AP must be able to work in an office setting as well as on location. While in the office or in an edit suite, there may be extended periods of sitting and standing, including use of a computer and other office or production equipment. Out-of-town, overnight trips will normally be limited to three to six days at a time, and may require varying modes of transportation. Lifting and carrying of heavy equipment up to 50 pounds may be required. Evening or weekend work will happen because of travel and deadlines.
Required Qualifications:
  • Equivalent of one year full time experience as an Associate Producer (AP) for a national prime time television series or special(s). Some of that experience needs to be on location (in the field).
  • Experience doing archival research (the ability to transition research on topic from the Series Researcher and supporting producer leading up to the shoot).
  • Experience with clearing rights
  • Pre-production experience (setting up shoots, travel logistics, location clearances or permits and development of call sheets, etc).
  • Archival edit preparation (ability to manipulate images to prepare for edits).
  • Familiarity with editing systems and a general understanding of what is required for editing.
  • High-level communication, organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to proactively anticipate the needs of the producer and crew.
  • Detail-oriented.
  • Ability to balance and respond to multiple conflicting priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Outstanding customer service skills.
  • Ability to work closely with diverse personalities.
  • High level of computer proficiency and aptitude.
  • Valid driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Technical production experience.
  • Database creation and management in Filemaker, Access or other database software.
  • Familiarity with Avid, Final Cut Pro or other non-linear editing system.
