“I’ve always enjoyed science,” says Steve Beard, an Earth science and physics teacher at Thomas Edison High School in Beaverton, Oregon.

“It’s the simple things like how stuff works. I love to be able to pass on little pieces of knowledge,” he adds.

Beard regularly uses digital media to engage his students and has been recognized as one of PBS LearningMedia’s Digital Innovators for the 2014-15 school year.

Some of Beard’s favorite PBS LearningMedia resources are from NOVA’s “Making Stuff” collection, including “The Business of Bioplastics.”
