Devin Phillips Plays Jimmy Mak's
221 NW 10th
Aug. 23, 2014, 8 p.m.
Tonight, Devin Phillips will premier his latest work, “Modern Revival”. This performance will be the second in a series of four performances this year. Modern Revival will highlight 3 more original compositions by Phillips along with arrangements of American spirituals.
Modern Revival celebrates the connection between jazz and the human spirit. More specifically, music’s ability and intent to lift the human spirit. With influences stretching from Ray Charles and Sam Cook to John Coltrane, Modern Revival will explore music’s ability to promote personal as well as social change.
Joining Phillips for this premier will be Tyson Stubeleck (drums), and Eric Gruber (bass).
