The Corner Creek fire in Central Oregon is now burning more than 19,000 acres. The fire, 11 miles south of Dayville, spread quickly overnight.

Abbey Driscoll, a natural resource specialist for the Oregon Department of Forestry, said conditions are challenging for fire suppression.

"Everything is kind of a tinderbox out there, and it's just spreading really rapidly," Driscoll said. "The next few days are supposed to be really hot. And then we're also supposed to be getting wind gusts up into 20, 25 miles per hour. Those are not really very favorable weather conditions for fighting fire."

The Corner Creek fire is burning in a mix of timber, brush and tall grass. Fire managers say six residences including ranches and hunting cabins are threatened by the fire. But no evacuations have been ordered.
