Amanda Knox is waiting to hear whether her ordeal is over or whether she will face trial again, as Italy’s top criminal court considers whether to overturn her acquittal in the murder of her roommate.

She and her Italian ex-boyfriend were charged in the murder of a 21-year-old British student. Prosecutors want the court to throw out the acquittals and order a new trial. Knox returned to her hometown of Seattle after nearly four years behind bars.

It is unclear what would happen if she were convicted and sentenced to further prison time. It is possible Italy could seek her extradition, or that U.S. and Italian authorities could come to a deal that would keep her in the United States.

A verdict could come later Monday.
