Oregon State University’s baseball team is the number one national seed in the NCAA tournament for the first time in school history. The Beavers are the Pac-12 champions and are headed to the postseason for the sixth consecutive time.

OSU is ranked at the very top of sixty-four baseball teams in the postseason tournament. The Beavers have a winning record and will host part of the tournament in Corvallis for the fifth time.

The tournament starts Friday with double-elimination regionals. Oregon State will kickoff the tournament against North Dakota State at Goss Stadium on the OSU campus.

Hank Hager is with OSU. He says it’s not common for a college team in the Pacific Northwest to be ranked number one.

“This is something that not everybody gets to have and they certainly understand that now is the time where they really gotta’ get down to business,” Hager says.

The College World Series is in Omaha, Nebraska. The Beavers were back-to-back champions in 2006 and 2007.
