Clackamas County has more homeless children than homeless adults, according to the latest snapshot from this past winter. Of the 2,293 homeless counted, almost 1,165 were children.
The totals include people found during a one-night count on Jan. 23, 2017, as well as information from schools' homeless liaisons. The numbers include people living outside, in emergency shelters, or in unstable housing, such as being doubled-up with other families. The total is a slight increase from the last count two years ago, but county officials say weather and other factors can affect the totals.
More than 1,000 respondents identified where they'd last had stable housing. The five most common responses included urban, suburban and rural areas.

Affordable housing advocates often say one-night snapshots are helpful, but can underestimate the extent of the problem.
