Clackamas County voters have until 8 p.m. to cast their ballot in a special election regarding the future of light rail.

If Measure 3-401 passes, countywide voter approval would be needed before officials can spend money to finance, design, construct or operate any rail lines in the county.

It’s unclear if the measure would affect the Orange Line that’s already under construction.

Clackamas County commissioners last month approved a $22.6 settlement agreement to pay for its share of the $1.5 billion Portland-to-Milwaukie light-rail extension.
