I-5  will be closed this weekend just south of the Interstate 205 junction in Salmon Creek, Washington.

Construction crews will be installing a dozen concrete girders for a new interchange and overpass in Clark County.

The road closes at eleven Friday, night and will re-open by 5 a.m., Monday. The Washington State Department of Transportation, or WashDot, will reroute traffic to I-205 and other local roads for the weekend.

Allen Hendy with WashDot says drivers can expect to see heavy traffic on I-205.

We’re asking drivers to plan ahead. We have a lot of information online, on the webpage with detour routes. There is all kind of signage and messages out there, you know, helping people figure out how to get around the area. Plan ahead and give yourself, you know, an extra fifteen twenty minutes to get to your destination,” he said.

WashDot has a variety of resources to help drivers plan ahead and stay informed during the closure.
