People in the Lane County town of Oakridge thought their clocks were going crazy, at least the ones that plug in.
Electric clocks are running faster than wrist watches and cell phone clocks.
KVAL reports reports clocks in the mountain town east of Eugene were thrown off when the source of power was switched to the Hills Creek Dam. The electricity runs at 61 cycles per second instead of the normal 60 cycles that clocks count to measure time. So clocks run about a second per minute faster.
Lane Electric spokesman Dave D’Avanzo says he expects the problem to be fixed by the end of the week.
