Developers who want to build a casino outside Portland are apologizing for using a trademarked name belonging to the fraternal organization National Grange.

Both parties said Wednesday they’ve reached an agreement that will allow the casino developers to continue using the name through the November election, when voters will decide on two ballot measures that would authorize the casino.

Canadian investors and local businessmen have spent heavily promoting a development they’re calling The Grange, which would include a casino and hotel in Wood Village.

Under their agreement, the casino developers will pay an undisclosed fee to use the Grange name through the election and will include a disclaimer saying that the National Grange is not affiliated with their project.
