University of Oregon Head Football Coach Chip Kelly will remain in Eugene for the 2013 season. U of O Athletic Director Rob Mullens announced Kelly’s decision Monday.
“We’re ecstatic that Coach Kelly has decided to remain at the University of Oregon. Obviously we’ve had unprecended success over the last four years and that’s attributed to his innovative style. He’s a great leader and we’re thrilled he’s going to remain in Eugene.”
Mullens says Kelly called him Sunday night, to say he would not leave to coach an NFL team.
Over the last few days, Kelly had reportedly talked with the Cleveland Browns, the Philadelphia Eagles, and the Buffalo Bills.
Mullens would not elaborate on why Kelly decided to stay with the Ducks, but called the coach a “true professional.”
