Cold temperatures are blamed for causing a pump to fail at a Rogue Valley Sewer Services pump station in Eagle Point.
About 20,000 gallons of raw sewage spilled Monday into Little Butte Creek before it was stopped.
The Mail Tribune reports warning signs were posted to keep people away from creek water until tests come back clean.
