Fall Chinook Season Opens On Lower Columbia

OPB | Aug. 1, 2013 11:48 a.m. | Chinook, Washington

The fall Chinook fishing season opens Thursday on the lower Columbia River and is scheduled to run through September 1.

And all indicators point to a good year.

The Columbian newspaper reports that a big fall Chinook run of 678,000 is expected between now and November.

That means the region could see a big influx of fishermen. Hundreds of boats are expected in the area, peaking mid-month.
