Firefighters In Sandy Rescue Black Lab That Fell Through Ice

Firefighters in Sandy have rescued a black Lab that fell through lake ice.

Sandy Fire District Chief Gary McQueen said fire crews responded Thursday morning to find a dog named Mango about 40 feet from shore with his back legs stuck in mud and his front legs on top of the ice. He was unable to pull himself out.

Borrowing a neighbor’s boat, firefighters used an ax and a rubbish hook to pull and chop their way through 2-inch-thick ice to rescue the dog.
