The Oregon Food Bank has a new leader who’s talking up the importance of preventing hunger.
Susannah Morgan took over as CEO of the food bank this month. She succeeds Rachel Bristol, who retired.
Morgan was formerly executive director of Food Bank of Alaska.
She’s been touring Oregon Food Bank facilities this month.
She told the Ontario Argus Observer that the food bank will continue its efforts to collect and distribute food, but she also wants to work on long-term solutions to the problem of hunger.
She says the Food Bank is seeing increasing participation in education, cooking and nutrition classes, partnering with farmers and farmers markets, teaching people how to grow their own food and shop, and eat-local campaigns.
