A former La Pine High School cheerleading coach is facing charges of sexual misconduct and providing alcohol to a minor.

According to the Deschutes County Sheriff’s office, 30-year-old Nicole Mickelson was arrested last week following an investigation into allegations that she had been involved inappropriately with a 17-year-old male student.

Julianne Repman is the communications director for Bend La Pine School District.  She says Mickelson was hired on as a coach about a year and half ago.  Repman wouldn’t discuss details of what the investigation found, but she says Mickelson tendered her resignation shortly after the allegations surfaced in mid-March.

“What I can tell you is that a staff person was informed of the allegations and because we take these very very seriously, we immediately contacted our law enforcement.  We have a school resource officer at the school and that school resource officer began an investigation,” said Repman

Mickelson had previously been issued a citation on one count of Providing Liquor to a Minor.  According to the Deschutes County Sheriff’s office, Mickelson is out on bail while she awaits her next court appearance.
