In Tuesday night's State of the Union address, President Obama touched on a number of issues that are important to Northwesterners, such as climate change, economic development and health care reform.
The President alluded to big changes coming for Medicare.
"We'll bring down costs by changing the way our governmentt pays for Medicare, because our medical bills shouldn't be based on the number of tests ordered or the days spent in the hospital. They should be based on the quality of care that our seniors receive."
Oregon has been working on delivering better healthcare at lower costs, and that's why Oregon Governor John Kitzhaber was invited to attend last night's speech. He was a special guest of the First Lady.
Governor Kitzhaber will return to Oregon later Wednesday, but we were able to catch up with him in Washington, D.C.
