Republican Representative Dennis Richardson of Central Point has raised $42,000 since announcing his gubernatorial candidacy in July.

The Salem Statesman Journal reports that Richardson says his total is closer to $100,000 if he counts donors who haven’t yet cut him a check.

Former Republican Party Executive Director Greg Leo tells the paper that other potential candidates will be watching Richardson’s total closely to see if entering the 2014 governor’s race is worthwhile.

Oregon Gov. John Kitzhaber has accrued about $32,000 over the same period of time, though he has yet to announce if he will run for office again next year.
