Master Sgt. Nick Choy with the Oregon Guard says, as Governor, Kulongoski was noted for his attention to military matters.

“He went to our mobilization and demobilization ceremonies. And he also attended Oregon National Guard funerals. He also went to Marine, Navy, Air Force, and other services’ funerals as well.”

In addition, Choy says Kulongoski engaged in legislation that took care of Guard soldiers, airmen, and their families, including bills with resources for military members returning from Iraq and Afghanistan.

Kulongoski is a former Marine.
