A heat wave is headed toward the Pacific Northwest. Temperatures this weekend are expected to exceed 100 degrees in parts of Oregon and Washington.
In Central Oregon, the city of Bend is asking residents to be careful with water use, given the heat.
"As the temperatures increase, we want people to go and inspect their irrigation system, make sure it's operating properly, make sure it's not over spraying onto sidewalks and streets, and make sure they're using water efficiently," said Mike Buettner, a water conservation manager for the city of Bend.
Meteorologists forecast hot and dry temperatures for much of the summer, meaning that drought will continue in much of the state. Gov. Kate Brown has declared drought emergencies in 20 of Oregon's 36 counties.
