Election officials will continue to count Washington state primary election results Wednesday.

In the Third Congressional District race, where returns are still early, incumbent Republican Congresswoman Jaime Herrera-Beutler ahead with more than 48 percent of the vote.

“I wanted to do this job again and so I’m asking voters for their vote and so far a majority have given it to me. Hopefully that holds out. And I have definitely more ground to gain in the November election,” says Herrera-Beutler.

As of 10 p.m. the Washington Secretary of State’s Office showed Democrat Bob Dingethal with about 39 percent of the vote.

“I’m absolutely thrilled,” says Dingethal. “Now the race starts. Now you can really turn on the jets.”

Republican Michael Delavar had about 13 percent.

The top two candidates will advance to the general election.
