Faint hopes that a sawmill in Dallas might cut lumber again have been extinguished as buyers have started bidding on equipment at the closed Weyerhaeuser site.
The Salem Statesman Journal reports a company that specializes in liquidating factories bought the mill in August. An official of Northwest Demolition and Dismantling says talks with several groups interested in running a mill didn’t result in a deal.
The mill was closed in 2009.
The company plans to take bids on the equipment until Christmas and expects that by the first quarter most of it will be removed.
It plans to tear down some of the structures but hopes to find commercial or industrial users for structures in better condition.
