A fisherman cleaning a trout he caught at Idaho’s Priest Lake in early September found a human finger inside.
Detectives were able to get a fingerprint off the severed digit and track it back to the owner: a wake boarder who lost four fingers from his left hand during an accident on the lake more than two months earlier.
The Spokesman-Review newspaper reported that fisherman Nolan Calvin found the finger, put it on ice and called the Bonner County, Idaho, sheriff’s office.
Detectives searching for a possible victim discovered that on July 4, a wake boarder named Hans A. Galassi, 31, lost four fingers from his left hand. The fingers were never recovered. The newspaper reported that detectives found a fingerprint card for Galassi, and the identification was confirmed.
