Oregon governor, John Kitzhaber, is invoking the Emergency Conflagration Act for the Rogue River Drive Fire that is burning between Eagle Point and Shady Cove in Jackson County.
A level one evacuation notice has been established for the area, affecting about 115 homes. That means residents have to be ready to move at a moment’s notice.
There’s an additional level three evacuation notice in place for the Dry Creek area. There, residents of three homes have had to leave their property.
But Carol Connolly a fire information officer at the Northwest Interagency Coordination Center, said progress is being made. “They have been working that fire with air support and ground support and they’re helping the fire fighters on the ground. They’re gaining ground on that fire.”
The fire started Monday and has currently consumed about 600 acres.
