Legislature Funds State Psychiatric Hospital In Junction City

OPB | July 8, 2013 9:47 p.m. | Salem, Oregon

Lawmakers are setting aside $80 million in bond funding to finish building the state psychiatric hospital in Junction City.

The money got final approval today as part of a roughly $1 billion package that gives new bonding authority to state and local governments.

The 174-bed hospital has been delayed due to lack of funding.

Additionally, some mental health advocates say the state should be focusing on smaller facilities, or on in-home care for mental health patients.

The Eugene Register-Guard reports that the new hospital is on track to open in April of 2015.
