About 100 Oregonians turned out under gray skies Monday to protest a fundraiser for presumptive Republican presidential nominee, Mitt Romney.
Romney was in Portland for a luncheon at the downtown Governor Hotel. The event was not open to the media. Attendance cost a minimum of $2,500.
Homemaker Susan Dennis was outside with a sign telling Romney the "American Dream" has turned into the "American Nightmare."
"I would like to see the rich not control the whole world. That they don't make all the decisions for everyone," Dennis said. "Working class people are what keeps our tax system going. And if the rich control it then we don't have that any more. So they make all the decisions and that's not fair," Dennis said.
Oregon Democrats were there to say Romney is blocking President Barack Obama's efforts to rebuild the middle class. And activists with Planned Parenthood of Oregon dressed in pink with the message that "Women are watching."
They say Romney wants to get rid of Planned Parenthood and overturn Roe v. Wade.
The luncheon was Romney's third stop in Portland in the last year.
