Washington Senator Patty Murray heard from members of the Portland VA Medical Center in Vancouver Thursday.
Murray says she was pleased to hear that the Portland VA has brought down the time that patients spend waiting to be seen.
“I’m very impressed that the Portland VA, which did have a very high number of people on the wait list has gone out of their way to really focus on that by having their doctors open up weekend hours, serve voluntarily to bring that wait list down to now to zero. That’s really good for today.”
Murray sits on the Senate Veterans’ Affairs Committee.
The Veterans Affairs Administration has been under pressure to reduce wait times at its clinics. Earlier this year, an internal audit found that thousands of veterans waiting for care had their wait times manipulated.
