Portland Police say officers shot a man in a parking garage at NE 7th Avenue and Lloyd Boulevard Monday night. He later died from his injuries, the Oregonian reported.
The incident began at 10:45 p.m. when a pair of officers encountered the armed man, according to a news release.
He was transported to a hospital. His name and condition were not initially released by police.
Streets in the area remained closed Tuesday morning.
Representatives from the Chief’s Office, Mayor’s Office, Training Division, Internal Affairs Division, Office of Independent Police Review (IPR), Traumatic Incident Committee (TIC), and the Multnomah County District Attorney’s Office all responded to the scene as is protocol for officer-involved shootings, police said.
An autopsy was scheduled for Tuesday, the newspaper reported.
