French President's Bold Actions Transform His Image

French President Francois Hollande, who seemed rather diffident in the first months of his presidency, has surprised critics by taking bold action on several fronts. He has sent French troops into Mali to combat Islamist insurgents, brokered an agreement with French unions to overhaul rigid labor rules and pushed legislation for same sex marriage.
